Lynn Schenk

Lynn Shenk is an attorney and consultant in private practice with extensive public policy and business experience. She serves on the Board of Directors for Sempra Energy, Biogen Idec, the Scripps Research Institute, and the San Diego Consortium for Regenerative Medicine and is a member of the California High-Speed Rail Authority. She served as Chief of Staff to Governor Gray Davis from 1999 to 2003. From 1992 to 1994 she served in the U.S. House of Representatives, the first woman ever elected to represent the San Diego region. Prior to that she served in the Cabinet of Governor Jerry Brown as California’s Secretary of Business, Transportation, and Housing. 

She was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2012, and serves on the Trustee Recruitment and Engagement Committee and previously served on the Chancellor’s Executive Advisory Cabinet for the Campaign for UC San Diego.

Lynn received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA, and her Juris Doctorate from the University of San Diego. She did post law school graduate work at the London School of Economics.
