Kenneth F. Kroner, PhD ’88

Kenneth F. Kroner (retired) was a member of BlackRock’s Global Executive Committee, where he was responsible for hundreds of billions of dollars of active investment portfolios.  Prior to that he was an economics and finance professor at the University of Arizona.

Ken serves or has served on various academic boards, foundation boards, corporate boards and academic journal editorial boards.  in 2020 he established the Kroner Center at UC San Diego (now the Kroner Koenigsberger Center), which brings the power of academia to real-world investment issues faced by asset owners globally (pension funds, foundations and sovereign wealth funds).

Kroner served as the global chair of UC San Diego’s recent capital campaign, which raised over $3b in philanthropic gifts, and is currently the co-chair of International Justice Mission's $750m effort to end human trafficking.  His family’s philanthropic work focuses on higher education and on social justice/forced labor causes.
