UC San Diego Foundation Board of Trustees
Since the Foundation’s inception in 1972, the distinguished donors, alumni and community members who make up the Board of Trustees have served as liaisons between UC San Diego and the community, playing a critical role in the growth and success of the campus through:
ADVOCACY
Serving as effective advocates for the campus, and the University of California in general, on important governmental, budgetary and regulatory matters affecting higher education in the state and local community.
PHILANTHROPY
Assisting UC San Diego in its mission to raise significant private support for its research, teaching, patient care, student life and outreach.
COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
Learning and understanding as much about the campus as possible, including the impact of a major research institution on the economy of the region, the state, the nation and the world, and delivering the information into circles of influence.
STEWARDSHIP
Accepting, administering and stewarding private gifts which are made in the form of cash, securities, and real and personal property.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT/ FIDUCIARIES
Managing and investing the assets of the Foundation, now in excess of $1.66 billion, either as endowments or funds available for current expenditure, as well as managing trusts and other planned gift assets.
