UC San Diego Foundation

UC San Diego Foundation is a separate nonprofit corporation, formed in 1972 to promote the educational and research purposes of UCSD. Governed by an independent board of directors, the Foundation generates and accepts charitable donations, and manages a diverse portfolio of assets such as stocks and bonds, artwork, commercial and residential real property, trusts, and cash. The Foundation's total assets are nearly $444 million.

The purpose of the Foundation is to foster and promote community support for the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), to encourage charitable donations for its educational, scientific, and public service programs, to assist in other programs that benefit UCSD, and to advise the Chancellor on issues that affect both the community and UCSD.
